MARSHFIELD, Wis. — Quality Tank Solutions is preparing for a major expansion in Marshfield that company leaders say will create approximately 30 new jobs, increase manufacturing capabilities and provide new workforce development opportunities for local students. The company is moving forward with a nearly 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility that will allow Quality Tank Solutions to produce significantly larger stainless steel tanks. The new building will stand approximately 60 feet tall. Quality Tank Solutions currently has the ability to manufacture tanks up to approximately 50,000 gallons. Once the new facility is operational, that capacity will increase to around 100,000 gallons. Company officials said demand for increasingly larger tanks helped drive the decision to expand. The tanks manufactured by the Marshfield company are used primarily for raw products and storage, with many serving the dairy and food and beverage industries. Products stored in the tanks can include raw milk, whey proteins and other ingredients used by processing facilities. Expansion Expected to Create 30 Jobs Beyond increasing production capabilities, the project is expected to have a significant impact on the local workforce. Company officials said approximately 30 new jobs will be created as part of the expansion. Quality Tank Solutions is also focusing on developing its existing workforce through training, apprenticeship programs and opportunities for employees to advance into different positions within the company. The new positions will not be limited to welding and fabrication. Quality Tank Solutions expects opportunities in office positions, shipping and receiving, machine operation and other areas of the company. Building the Next Generation of Workers Quality Tank Solutions is also working with local schools to introduce students to careers in manufacturing and related fields. The company is developing apprenticeship and workforce programs that could expose students to welding and fabrication as well as engineering, design, office and human resources careers. Students could spend approximately 12 weeks with the company, giving them an opportunity to experience different careers before deciding which direction they may want to pursue. Company officials said manufacturing today involves a much broader range of careers than many students may realize, including electrical work, automation, design, CAD, estimating and machine operation. Community Invited to Sept. 18 Celebration The public will have an opportunity to learn more about the expansion during Quality Tank Solutions' Building Connections QTS Celebration on Friday, Sept. 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is designed to give community members a closer look at the company, its existing operations and the expansion underway. Visitors will be able to learn more about what takes place inside the facility and the types of career opportunities available at Quality Tank Solutions. The expansion comes after years of organic growth for the Marshfield company. Quality Tank Solutions has been in business for 14 years, with company leaders saying much of its early growth occurred without extensive marketing. With the new facility and additional employees now on the horizon, the company is working to increase awareness of its operations and opportunities. The project represents not only an expansion of Quality Tank Solutions' manufacturing capabilities, but also an investment in jobs, workforce training and career opportunities in Marshfield and central Wisconsin.
