MARSHFIELD, WI — The City of Marshfield is preparing to begin its 2027 budget process, with several budget meetings planned this fall before the proposed spending plan and property tax levy come before the Common Council for final consideration in November.
The proposed 2027 budget is scheduled to be delivered to the Mayor and Common Council on Thursday, October 8. Council members will then begin a series of meetings to review the proposed budget, discuss city priorities and consider potential changes.
The first budget meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13 at 5:00 p.m. Because of the budget meeting, the regular Common Council meeting that evening will be moved back one hour and begin at 7:00 p.m.
Additional budget meetings are scheduled for Monday, October 19 at 6:00 p.m. and Monday, October 26 at 6:00 p.m. A fourth meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28 at 6:00 p.m., if necessary.
During the budget process, city officials will review proposed revenues and expenditures for 2027 and work toward a final budget and property tax levy.
Following the council's budget review, a notice for the required public hearing is scheduled to be delivered to the Marshfield News-Herald on November 2, with publication planned for November 5.
The process is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, November 24, when the Common Council will hold the public hearing on the proposed 2027 budget and tax levy during its regular meeting. The council is also scheduled to consider adoption of the budget and levy that evening.
The public hearing provides residents with an opportunity to comment on the proposed budget before final action is taken.
