MARSHFIELD, Wis. — A 26-year-old Marshfield woman was taken into custody Thursday evening following a domestic disturbance that led to the deployment of the Marshfield Police Department’s Special Response Team.
According to a news release from the Marshfield Police Department, officers responded at approximately 6:46 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, to the 2700 block of West Fifth Street for a reported domestic disturbance.
Police said the woman refused to exit the residence. Approximately 45 minutes after officers arrived, the department’s Special Response Team was activated after authorities determined that the woman was armed inside the residence.
Specialized police tactics were used during the incident, and a police K-9 was deployed to assist officers in taking the woman into custody. She was arrested approximately two hours later.
The woman was transported to a local emergency department for medical clearance before being taken to the Wood County Jail.
Marshfield police are requesting charges through the Wood County District Attorney’s Office for false imprisonment, strangulation, disorderly conduct and battery. Police said all of the requested charges include domestic abuse enhancers. Additional charges are also being requested in connection with the woman allegedly failing to comply with officers’ commands.
The Marshfield Police Department thanked the Wood County Sheriff’s Department and Marshfield Fire and Rescue for assisting during the incident.
Authorities said the disturbance was an isolated incident and there is no current danger to the community.
Police said no additional information will be released at this time.
