Final Paving of 17th Street Scheduled for August 4

MARSHFIELD — The City of Marshfield Department of Public Works is advising residents that the final paving of 17th Street is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, August 4, weather permitting.

The paving work will be completed by American Asphalt and marks the final phase of the street improvement project.

Before paving begins, crews will apply a tack coat to the existing roadway surface. This sticky asphalt emulsion is used to ensure the new pavement bonds properly to the road below. Because the material can adhere to vehicle tires, residents are urged to avoid driving on the treated surface until it has been covered with asphalt.

Once paving operations begin, 17th Street will be closed to vehicle traffic until the new asphalt has cooled and is safe for travel. City officials anticipate the closure will last no longer than 24 hours after paving has been completed.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and notify family members, visitors, delivery drivers, and service providers that access to homes along 17th Street will be limited during the paving operation. Anyone who will need to use a vehicle during the closure should park on a nearby side street or at another accessible location before work begins.

The City of Marshfield thanks residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the project as crews complete the final improvements to the roadway.

For additional information or questions, residents may contact the City of Marshfield Department of Public Works – Street Division at 715-486-2081.
