MARSHFIELD — Marshfield Broadcasting has been recognized with seven awards at this year’s Midwest Media Fest, honoring excellence in community media production across the region.

The organization received an Excellence Award, the festival’s highest honor, for Your Health Matters, a program produced in partnership with Sanford Health and Marshfield Clinic. The show is hosted by Laura Kibbel, directed by Angie Houghton, with camera work and post-production by David Murchland.

Marshfield Broadcasting also earned an Achievement Award for Marshfield Now! News. The program features David Murchland as news anchor and includes production contributions from Tom Loucks, and is directed by Angie Houghton.

An additional Achievement Award was presented to Yellowstone Industrial Park, filmed, produced and edited by Tom Loucks.

Four additional programs received Merit Awards. Field to Fenceline, hosted by Beckie Gaskill and produced by Murchland, was recognized for its coverage of agriculture and rural issues.

Mike’s Music Spotlight, produced by Mike Weigel, and Elsa the Queen of Wildwood Zoo, produced by Tom Loucks, were each recognized with Merit Awards.

Puppets of Faith, produced by Tom Loucks, Dave Iversen and Justin Polzin, also received a Merit Award.

The Midwest Media Fest, organized by Wisconsin Community Media and the Alliance for Community Media’s Midwest region, celebrates outstanding video and radio programming created by professionals and community producers.

Entries are evaluated on criteria including overall quality, creativity, audience engagement and technical production. According to festival organizers, Excellence Awards are typically given to the top tier of entries, while Achievement and Merit Awards recognize strong and proficient work.

David Murchland said the recognition reflects the work of a dedicated team and strong community partnerships.

“We’re proud to tell stories that matter locally,” Murchland said. “It’s an honor to have that work recognized at a regional level.”

Marshfield Broadcasting produces a range of local programming focused on news, health, agriculture and community development, distributed through public access channels and online platforms.
