UW–Stevens Point Campuses Closed Monday Due to Extreme Snowfall

By David Murchland - Marshfield Now!

Marshfield, WI — The University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point has announced that all three of its campuses will be closed Monday, March 16, due to extreme snowfall from the latest winter storm impacting the region.

The closure applies to the university’s campuses in Stevens Point, Marshfield and Wausau. The decision was made after significant snow accumulation created hazardous travel conditions and operational challenges across central Wisconsin.

The announcement was delivered Sunday afternoon through the university’s Pointer Alert emergency notification system.

Fortunately, the closure comes during Spring Break, when no classes are scheduled. However, all campus operations and services will be closed for the day, including community-facing facilities at the Marshfield campus such as the Hungry Hub Restaurant and the Hydroponic Garden.

University officials encourage students, employees and community members to monitor official university communication channels for updates and to use caution while traveling during the winter storm.

“Due to the extreme snowfall from this latest winter storm, the three campuses of UW–Stevens Point will be closed Monday, March 16,” the university said in the Pointer Alert notification.
