Marshfield WI- Two Marshfield city committees met on August 5, 2025, addressing public works projects, parking restrictions, technology contracts, and employee policy discussions. The Board of Public Works approved engineering services for sewer and water design on Fourth Street between Maple and Peach avenues. While federal funding from the STP Urban Program will cover the roadway portion of the project, the city must pay for utility work. Robert E. Lee & Associates submitted a $22,000 proposal, which will be incorporated into the overall 2028 reconstruction plan. The board also agreed to expand “No Parking” zones on East 21st Street during Central Wisconsin State Fair events. The new restrictions will apply to both sides of the street from Maple to Peach avenues, citing safety and traffic concerns during nearby construction. During the Finance, Budget, and Personnel Committee meeting, members recommended renewing the city’s website management contract with Revise for five more years at $4,999 annually. Communications Director Tom Loucks noted the redesign will be included at no extra cost, and the site will be ADA compliant before 2027. Council member Mike O’Reilly proposed tracking hours worked by exempt (salaried) employees to improve accountability and address workload concerns. The committee agreed to seek legal guidance before taking action, with a report expected at the next meeting. Human Resources Director Sarah Dresel presented a five-year report on staff turnover. Marshfield’s rates generally stayed within the statewide municipal average of 8–12% annually, though members expressed concern over the loss of experienced administrators who “retire” to take other jobs. Several positions remain unfilled, including public works director and community development director. Both meetings adjourned after setting items for future agendas.
